News Ways of Seeing

    I feel that the "finding other college students" in a city thing goes a little bit too far. If we continue on that track, people will have NO privacy ever.
    I do think the facebook message data is an interesting study. There are so many facebook users, this would probably be a pretty accurate way to measure the "happiness of the world" at a given time, or at least SOME parts of the world.

    I've seen the Wallmart website before and I'm pretty sure I laughed when I saw these dots spread like a virus around the world map.

    I also agree with Emily, we're moving into an age where information is more and more accessible to anyone who wants to know anything... which is partly one of the reason I support the Pirate party movement which has started spreading around Europe and already have a position in the EU. Their main objective is to protect the information of the individual.

    Now to relate this to the discussion in class:

    i think its really interesting that no matter what direction or category data is being used and constantly spread around. walking down the street in new york you can find out for example, were the movie theaters are, the whether, sports, and restaurant ratings with the click of a button. the world has created a society of instant gratification. to create a successful business in the present its all about the speed and instant affects.
