My second article can be found here and is about stocks that were making a profit even during the worth of the recession. I found it on fool.com, an online investing site, after searching "playing the stocks in the recession."

this article is mind-blowing because how can football players be signing 100 million contracts, while the rest of the world is loosing houses, jobs and sums of money. and its unbelievable that even being in the NFL you earn 41 million. and even a new york team the Yankees has 430 millions in contracts. it seems that football is making more money.
ReplyDeleteWe all know that professional sport players get paid ridiculous sums of money, but you would think by now that they would cut down on the salary and that the NFL should have a cap on the amount of money spent so it they don't have to let their staff go.

ReplyDeletethe article on sports is amazing. yes, pro sports players make a lot of money, but you would think that since the recession began the teams would cut down on contracts. while these pro sports players are signing $100 million contracts, a majority of the world can't even afford a house.
ReplyDeleteIf sports are recession proof, then why should the teams cut down on contracts? A national feeling of thriftiness? Sports stars continue to be overpaid because they can be. If the teams run out of money, you can bet that their salaries will decrease as well.
ReplyDeleteBeing an athlete comes with a lot more than just having a job though. You really have to be born to be able to play like they do and you have a lot of risks playing these sports. If everyone could do what they do then everyone would, theres a reason they are getting paid so much.
ReplyDeleteIn 2008 Forbes reported that the Dallas Cowboys valued 1.6 Billion dollars. They are the most lucrative team in the NFL, and historically one of the best. No matter how much emotions professional sports evokes, in the end it is a a business, a business that on the top level is still performing very well. No matter how ridiculous it might seem for the Yankees to spend 430 Million Dollars on three new players, they are some of the best players in the game, and the Yankees opened a brand new stadium this year and must attract fans. The moves did make sense in the sports world, even if from the outside looking in they seem crazy. In fact, the Yankees are currently the most successful team in Major League Baseball, and a popular pick to win the world series.
